چکیده

We discuss the High Performance Fortran data parallel programming language as an aid to software engineering and as a tool for exploiting High Performance Computing systems for computational uid dynamics applications. We discuss the use of intrinsic functions, data distribution directives and explicitly parallel constructs to optimize performance by minimizing communications requirements in a portable manner. In particular we use an implicit method such as the ADI algorithm to illustrate the major issues. We focus on regular mesh problems, since these can be e ciently represented by the existing HPF de nition, but also discuss issues arising from the use of irregular meshes that are inuencing a revised de nition for HPF-2. Some of the codes discussed are available on the World Wide Web at http://www.npac.syr.edu/hpfa/ alongwith other educational and discussion material related to applications in HPF.

A Methodology For Developing High Performance Computing Models: Storm-Scale Weather Prediction

A methodology for developing future generations of a storm-scale weather prediction model for Massively Parallel Processing is described. The forecast model is the Advanced Regional Prediction System (ARPS), a three-dimensional, fully compressible, non-hydrostatic predictive model. In the short term, the computational goals include developing a portable, scalable model for distributed memory SI...

NPAC Technical Report SCCS 755 Exploration of Emerging HPCN Technologies for Web-Based Distributed Computing

The surge in the popularity of the World Wide Web (WWW) has corresponded to a decreasing market for specialised high performance computers. This paper discusses how, by making use of technology developed from the broader end of the computing pyramid, much of the past decade's work in distributed computing can be realised in the context of the larger WWW market. Not only do these new technologie...

Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation and Experimental Validation of Hydraulic Performance of a Vertical Suspended API Pump (RESEARCH NOTE)

For a long period of time, design and manufacturing technology of high flow rated vertically suspended pumps (VSPs) which have an extensive applications in many industries such as water and wastewater, mining, petrochemical and oil and gas industries, used to be imported from European countries. For the first time in Iran's pump industry, with the support of Ministry of Petrochemical[ah1]  and ...

Computational fluid dynamics study and GA modeling approach of the bend angle effect on thermal-hydraulic characteristics in zigzag channels

In the study, the thermal-hydraulic performance of the zigzag channels with circular cross-section was analyzed by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The standard K-Ꜫ turbulent scalable wall functions were used for modeling. The wall temperature was assumed constant 353 K and water was used as the working fluid. The zigzag serpentine channels with bend angles of 5 - 45° were studied for turbul...

Supporting Irregular Distributions Using S DatacParallel Languages

12 0 n distributed-memory machines, large data arrays need to be partitioned between local processor memories. These partitioned data arrays are called distributed arrays. Many applications can be efficiently implemented by using simple schemes for mapping distributed arrays. One such scheme is BLOCK distribution, which divides an array into contiguous, equal-sized subarrays and assigns each su...
